MAC x Zac Posen Darling Clementine

Recently MAC has collaborated with New York designer Zac Posen to debut a make-up collection featuring bold and daring colours.  While I can't say I know much about this designer, when I saw that the collection featured a matte orange-red lipstick I knew I had to get my hands on it.

My first true lipstick love came in a limited edition nautical themed collection in summer 2012. Unfortunately that matte orange-red went missing when I moved back to Toronto from Halifax and I never saw it again.  In my quest to get as close to it as I could I was introduced to MAC's Lady Danger and we have been pretty happy together ever since.

Zac Posen's take on a matte orange-red is called Darling Clementine and retails for $22.50 CAD.  It is described as a "bright orange with a matte finish".  This bright orange with red undertones has some pretty intense colour pay off.  I find this formula much more comfortable to wear than MAC's usual matte formula, so I would describe it as a "creamy matte".  It did not feel drying on me and over all  I was very pleased with the longevity and colour pay off.  I got pretty great wear out of it, applying it in the morning, going to work, eating lunch and then needing a touch up around 2:00 pm. I was impressed that the colour did not transfer onto my coffee mug.

Here is Darling Clementine compared to Lady Danger. As you can see, Lady Danger is much more red, where as Darling Clementine is both more orange and brighter.

I was not able to get it to photograph 100% correctly.  In real life I would say that Darling Clementine is brighter.

Have you tried anything from MAC x Zac Posen's launch yet?  Any recommendations?

PS I am hosting a pretty sweet blog giveaway.  You can enter it here. Good luck!
