Last winter I was at IpsyOS's Creator Day at Gen Beauty LA when I first had the chance to check out these beautiful (in more way than one) lippies. In a wide arrange of shades (neutrals for everybody, bold shades, you name it!) with a creamy formula, keep reading for swatches & my review!
Retailing for $40 CAD, and sold at Sephora, this permanent addition to the Hourglass collection is as beautiful as it is wearable. These jumbo twist-up lip crayons are availiable in 20 shades, with a fair number of neutrals included in the collection. Generally speaking, these lippies are not quite opaque, smooth, and light weight. They build well and feel great on my lips.
I was sent five shades to test and review: Influencer, Achiever, Activist, Leader and Innovator. If I am being honest, I requested these shades as much for the colour as I did the names.
What makes this product unique isn't the idea of a large lip crayon or a silky formula. Its the names. Each of the GIRL lip stylos has an empowering name attached to it. Inventor... Warrior... Lover... Peacemaker... I could go on. In a day and age where makeup names more often than not have to do with sex and drugs, it is refreshing to see makeup that talks about more.
This collection really speaks to me because yes I love makeup. Yes I love doing my makeup, and getting pretty, but I also love reading the newspaper, advancing my career, and advocating for causes that I care about. I think this collection is a great nod to the fact that women aren't just "Achievers" or makeup lovers. We can be, and are, both.

Influencer is a deep rose-beige. I think that this is the perfect spring or winter neutral! Achiever is a deep rose. It is a bit more neutral that I prefer for summer but I think this will transition to fall wonderfully. Activist is a neutral rose. It is my favourite shade of the ones that I have had a chance to try. I love that it is a flattering neutral with an added touch of pink. I brought it with me on my trip to Europe and was often applying it on the go! Leader is a vivid fuchsia. This colour leaves behind a stain on the lips that helps it wear for a considerable period of time. Innovator is a neutral red. I think that this red will be perfect for the holidays (though I really don't want to be thinking about winter right now!)

These high quality lippies come in a substantive package. Not only is the packaging sleek and modern, but it also has a nice weight to it that really just confirms the luxury status of these products.
